04 December 2011 | Told You So

Well, like it really took a genius to figure out that Herman Cain would leave the race, but I still got a kick out of scores of Media Glitterati yakking their heads off for over an hour waiting for the man himself to say he's "suspending" his campaign.

I guess the use of that word is what you need to do to avoid looking like a quitter, especially when you've been shooting your mouth off about how tough you are.

Cain is out, and the mad dash for his backers has begun, further proof this is an exit and not a pause. No matter. Although he'll be relegated to the also-ran list, expect hapless media fucks to invoke his name as they try to make sense of the Republican presidential nomination fiasco. Or when they don't want to talk about Mitt Romney as they've put it peoples' minds that nobody actually likes him, a meme that's really gotten on my nerves. But it serves to remind even me that our media is about constructing a narrative, and they've long assigned certain roles to this cast of clowns. So, it's no surprise Romney continues to get treated with a certain measure of disdain (masked as GOP dislike) that's vaguely reminiscent of Al Gore's encounter back in 2000.

Looks like Romney's in a dual role now.
