28 December 2011 | Slash and Burn, but No Follow-Up
I read this article with relish and a hearty laugh about the slash and burn approach of Tea Bagger politicos running Kansas. It's a litmus test, you see, for all the insanity these people have unleashed across the nation.
But there's also something sobering: I know there will be no follow-up. You see, our Media Glitterati prefers big, splashy headlines and stories that detail such antics with a slight sense of "what's going to happen"? Except they don't bother to revisit the situation when practical effects of all this chest thumping cutting actually goes into practice. I'm definitely not saying "I told you so," but as far as the Tea Baggers are concerned, you have to go back six months, maybe even a year and do a compare and contrast. Unfortunately, our hapless media fucks can't see that far down the road, or will be conveniently distracted by presidential campaigning to say "Look what happened here," whether it's for the better or the worse.
(Honestly though, it's going to be for the worst. In the article, the Kansas governor boasted about slashing thousands of jobs but no mention of what will happen to these people who are suddenly unemployed. I get the impression that Tea Baggers actually LUV the prospect of people losing their jobs, especially if they're on the city, county or state payroll.)
People who have voted in Tea Bagger candidates deserve to suffer. Really, I'm not kidding. They deserve to have their services cut, their schools even more crowded and less trash pickup. The reason for this is so that we can all look at their furrowed brows in a vain attempt to understand why their all suddenly *not* flush with cash. Either that or how illegal immigrants are still taking their jobs and causing a taxpayer money drain even though everything else has been cut. I hope to read more stories about firefighters who won't put out a fire because some homeowner didn't pay his dues or whatever bullshit reason.
So I hope all states that ushered in the Tea Baggers with their slash and burn approach get it in the end. Of course, our Media Glitterati won't be on hand to let us know how turns out.
