11 January 2012 | Still Not Caring About New Hamster

For Ron Paul supporters, it certainly must seem like their hero's second place victory in the "first in the nation" primary is getting the short end of the stick: it's all about Mittens.

But you see, dear Ron Paul supporter, our Media Glitterati must adhere to their script, and the narrative they've established is more about Romney than anything else. Despite everything, our hapless media fucks love a politico who "cruises to victory," and that's what Mittens has done. We've seen it in the way the media is invoking Saint Ronnie with Romney's "one-two punch" of winning Iowa and New Hampshire. It's all about the win, Ron Paulites, so don't expect too many play for your man.

Personally, the descent to Iowa and New Hamster seem to evoke memories of a past that no longer seems viable. You know, where practically all-white voters seem to be representative of an America that no longer looks all-white. The Iowa caucus is nothing more than a sub-sub corp of voters who we are supposed to believe, thanks to the Media Glitterati, are truly important because...they're truly important. You hear lots of talk about evangelical voters, Tea Baggers and the like, almost like walking in halfway through a conversation someone is having with himself. Then attention abruptly shifts to the Granite State, whose existence is otherwise barely acknowledged. Again, it's a media construct to establish a narrative about What Candidate X Must Do Next. Oh, and the handicapping that perplexed writers like to insist is going to happen like some self-fulfilling prophecy.

And we have so much many more months of this....
