30 December 2011 | If I Could Run for Congress...

I wish I could run for Congress and tell voters: "Look, here's the deal. This is what I believe and why I want to run. The reality of it is, I will become corrupt. Everyone in power does. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. You have all of politics to prove it. So I need voters to help me manage the corruption where I can actually going to get something accomplished while still having a soul. But also be prepare to be disappointed. I won't do everything I said. It can't be done. You know it and I do, but we lie to each other about it. Admitting this makes us the most honest that a politician and his constituents can possibly be. You have to know that in order to pass some legislation, I have to water things down. I have to compromise. It won't be everything that you expect me to do because I don't have that power; let's not pretend otherwise. If we start out from this baseline, then I will become the most accountable politician on the face of the Earth."

Well, one can dream, right?
